Ravenscroft School is seeking a Private and Group Piano Lesson Instructor to teach Lower, Middle, and Upper School students through a combination of private piano lessons and group piano classes. This part-time role plays an important role in supporting students’ musical growth, performance readiness, and engagement in the Fine Arts program.
This position is ideal for a collaborative, student-centered piano educator who is passionate about working with learners across a wide range of ages and abilities, values strong communication with families, and enjoys contributing to a vibrant and performance-oriented music community.

What You'll Do
- Teach up to 15 Private Piano Lesson students and up to 2 Group Piano Classes for Lower, Middle, and Upper School students
- Teach five days per week according to Ravenscroft’s 8-Day Rotation schedule
- Create and implement a structured, literacy-based piano curriculum using method books and supplemental materials
- Prepare students for at least one required performance each academic year
- Create lesson assignments and provide clear expectations for students and families
- Provide regular feedback, including written comments and rubric-based assessments twice per academic year
- Establish lesson and class schedules in accordance with Private Lesson Scheduling Rules and Guidelines
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families and classroom teachers
- Assist students with instrument care and practice expectations as needed
- Serve as Recital Manager and Recital Class Clinician for at least one Private Lesson Recital and one Private Lesson Recital Class during the academic year
- Maintain a growth mindset to improve student learning and foster a positive learning environment

Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of successful private piano teaching experience with Lower, Middle, and Upper School–aged students
- Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education
- Demonstrated ability to teach students with a wide range of abilities in both private and group settings
- Strong knowledge of piano pedagogy, method books, supplemental materials, music theory, and technique
- Advanced communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
- Strong professionalism, organization, and collaboration skills
- Willingness to teach Group Piano Classes
- Willingness to serve as Recital Manager and Recital Class Clinician
Preferred:
- 5 years of successful private piano teaching experience, including preparation for recitals and adjudicated events
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music or Music Education with Piano as the principal instrument
- Prior experience teaching Group Piano Classes
- Demonstrated passion for teaching both young learners and advanced students
- Strong understanding of child development across Lower, Middle, and Upper School age groups
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This role is based on Ravenscroft’s campus and includes work in music studios, classrooms, and performance spaces. The position requires regular movement throughout campus, prolonged periods of sitting at a piano, use of instructional technology, and active engagement with students.
