Position Overview
The Division Head is responsible for creating a dynamic learning environment through the leadership and management of all curricular and non-curricular activities involving students and faculty in their division.

Key Responsibilities

● Actively support and advance the mission of The Fletcher School in all aspects of leadership and decision-making. 

● Serve as the educational leader of the division, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring the effective implementation of academic and student programs. 

● Direct, supervise, evaluate, and support instructional staff through classroom observation, coaching, and ongoing professional feedback. 

● Hire, retain, assign, and support faculty, and ensure adherence to School policies, procedures, and professional essential expectations. 

● Lead curriculum development and evaluation, ensuring strong horizontal and vertical alignment and incorporating current research, pedagogy, technology, and best practices, particularly related to learning differences. 

● Provide instructional leadership and consultation to teachers in areas such as classroom management, teaching strategies, assessment practices, and general school procedures. 

● Plan and support professional development and in-service training programs, and participate in faculty evaluation processes. 

● Select, train, and supervise level coordinators, faculty committee members, and sponsors of student organizations and activities. 

● Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative school climate that promotes student achievement, faculty morale, and respect for individual differences. 

● Oversee grading practices, assessment standards, and reporting methods to ensure consistency and accuracy in measuring student achievement. 

● Establish and enforce guidelines for student conduct and dress, and maintain accurate records related to attendance and citizenship. 

● Develop and manage the division budget in alignment with School priorities and leadership direction. 

● Serve as the primary communicator of divisional programs, expectations, and initiatives to faculty, students, families, and other constituencies, as appropriate. 

● Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, and uphold state and accrediting agency standards. 

● Collaborate with the Leadership Team by communicating divisional programs, needs, challenges, and initiatives. 

● Assist in the admissions process, including the testing, interviewing, and evaluation of prospective students. 

● Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Profile

● A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Special Education, or a related field. 

● Minimum of ten (10) years ten years of teaching and leadership experience, preferably as a Division Head. 

● Demonstrated experience with curriculum and program design and a thorough understanding of school pedagogy for grades K-5. 

● Orton-Gillingham training. 

● Experience in faculty supervision and evaluation. 

● Prior experience working with students with diagnosed learning differences. 

● Independent school leadership experience preferred. 

● Strategic thinker and empathetic problem solver. 

● Technologically savvy. 

● Ability to review and analyze complex diagnostic reporting preferred.
