Evangelical Christian School is seeking a Christ-centered, passionate 7th Grade Literature Teacher who will inspire students to grow as thoughtful readers, clear writers, and discerning thinkers. This teacher will guide students through a rich study of literature, including novels, short stories, and poetry, while strengthening skills in literary analysis, grammar, and writing composition.
The ideal candidate will cultivate a love of reading, develop students’ analytical and argumentative writing skills, and intentionally integrate a Christian worldview into instruction and classroom culture. In addition to academic instruction, this teacher will disciple a small group of students, fostering spiritual growth, character development, and mentorship through daily meetings.
Literature Instruction (Grade 7):
Teach 7th-grade literature, designing lessons that develop close reading, literary analysis, and critical thinking skills
Guide students in analyzing texts through discussion, written response, and evidence-based argumentation
Provide direct instruction in grammar, vocabulary development, and writing mechanics
Teach the writing process with a primary emphasis on argumentative writing
Use a variety of assessments to evaluate student learning and inform instruction
Collaborate with middle school colleagues to align curriculum and promote best instructional practices
Discipleship & Student Mentorship:
Lead a small D Group (Discipleship Group) of approximately ten students that meets daily, supporting spiritual growth and biblical understanding
Build strong, intentional relationships with students, offering guidance, encouragement, and accountability
Model Christian character and leadership, contributing to a Christ-centered classroom and school culture
Pray for and with students, helping them connect learning with faith and truth
Classroom Culture & Communication:
Foster a structured, respectful, and engaging learning environment
Communicate clearly and effectively with parents and guardians
Provide timely, meaningful feedback to support student growth
Maintain accurate and timely grading and reporting in PowerSchool
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
Middle school teaching experience preferred
Strong background in literature instruction and writing composition
A clear commitment to Christian education and alignment with ECS’s mission and Statement of Faith
Excellent communication skills, strong organizational habits, and a heart for mentoring young adolescents
