Upper School Mathematics Teacher (Grades 9–12)

Position Overview

UMS-Wright Preparatory School seeks a dynamic, engaging, and student-centered Upper School Mathematics Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning, a commitment to academic excellence, and the ability to inspire students to think critically and solve complex problems, preparing them for college and beyond.

Upper School faculty members play an integral role in supporting UMS-Wright's mission to educate students to their highest potential in mind, body, and spirit while developing character of the highest possible order.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Upper School mathematics courses in grades 9–12, which may include:

    • Algebra I
    • Geometry
    • Algebra II
    • Pre-Calculus
    • Calculus 
    • College Preparatory, Honors, or AP-level Mathematics courses

  • Design and implement engaging, rigorous lessons aligned with college-preparatory standards

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students

  • Incorporate real-world applications into instruction

  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide instructional practices

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum alignment and vertical planning

  • Maintain timely communication with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress

  • Support the Academic Support Program through collaboration and intervention strategies as needed

  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives

  • Contribute to the broader life of the school community through advising student organizations, coaching, or sponsoring extracurricular activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field required

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Teaching experience at the secondary level preferred

  • Strong content knowledge in upper-level high school mathematics

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment

  • Willingness to engage fully in the life of an independent college preparatory school community
