Gaston Day School is an independent, coeducational day school for 500 students in grades K-12.
This posting is for a full-time middle school math teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. A competitive candidate will have a background in math and teaching, preferably with middle school students. The successful candidate will be comfortable using technology to support lessons and manage student progress in our learning management system.
The Gaston Day Middle School math teacher is responsible for instructing students in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by the Middle School division. The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for mathematics and for encouraging students to grow in knowledge and understanding. This teacher will supervise students in academic classes, advisory programs, class trips, and extra-curricular activities at the school. This teacher will demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of all Gaston Day students and to the best interests of the school as a whole.
Broad Responsibilities:
Instructs students in mathematics in accordance with curriculum requirements and objectives, using technology, textbooks, and other instructional materials as appropriate.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and assessments that address multiple learning styles.
Establishes and actively maintains a class environment where excellence in learning is honored and where respectful interactions between and among students are valued.
Works with students to develop a love for learning, a sense of academic integrity, and a thoughtful work ethic.
Inspires a love of and appreciation for mathematics in our students.
Participates as an active team member within the Math Department, the Middle School faculty, and the school community as a whole.

Qualifications: A degree in Mathematics from an accredited institution and a degree in Education, or 3+ years teaching in a K-12 environment, is preferred.
Reporting: The Middle School Math Teacher will report directly to the Middle School Coordinator and to the Chair of the Mathematics Department.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
