Job Description
Marist School, a co-educational, college-preparatory, Catholic school, seeks a faith-driven, experienced school leader to serve as the Class of 2028 grade-level Personal/Academic Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year.
SKILLS:
- Experience providing individual and small group counseling, guidance lessons and parent education.
- Ability to provide support and leadership to staff in delivering a comprehensive guidance program.
- Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving.
- Assisting students in developing goals and strategies to meet their full potential based on the mission of Marist School.
- Assisting students in acquiring knowledge, communication and problem-solving skills that promote healthy relationships and academic achievement.
- Creating positive relationships with students that foster personal growth and service to others.
- Coordinating with faculty to provide instructional classroom activities that will support the values and mission of the school.
- Maintaining a positive culture to support student achievement and personal growth.
- Conducting seminars and/or providing educational information to parents that facilitate the home/school partnership.
- Participating in Student Support Team committee which works to develop individual student interventions based on identified student needs.
- Regularly collaborates with the Dean of Students and the Assistant Principal to support student well-being, coordinate interventions, and ensure alignment.
- Serve as a homeroom advisor and grade-level coordinator of our Marist Advisory program.
- Providing crisis counseling when needed.
- Adhering to legal and ethical guidelines and professional standards of the profession.
- Collaborate to create wellness programming for the school community.
- Participating in the activities of the school, including Masses, school assemblies, pep rallies, and other events where supervision is expected.
- Additional time is required beyond a normal workday or week for evening and some weekend meetings and gatherings.
Marist School is an independent, Roman Catholic, college-preparatory day school in Atlanta, Georgia.
Marist enrolls approximately 1,100 boys and girls annually in grades 7th - 12th. It is owned and operated by the Society of Mary (more commonly known as the Marists), a religious congregation of priests and brothers founded in France in 1836. Marist School was founded in downtown Atlanta in 1901 and is the oldest Catholic school in the Atlanta area. The school moved to its current site on Ashford Dunwoody Road in 1962.
The mission of Marist School is to form the whole person in the image of Christ through instruction grounded in religious values, the teachings of the Catholic Church, and the spirit of the Society of Mary. The mission is advanced through the communal pursuit of excellence in academic, religious, extracurricular, leadership, and service programs.
