Job Title: Teacher/Classroom Instructor

Reports To: Academic Director

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with capability and experience

Hours: Full-time, 10 month position

Job Summary

To provide academic instruction to students in an assigned grade level between third through sixth grade.

Primary Purpose

This is a full-time, exempt salaried position serving as a classroom instructor for New Hope Academy. This position prepares a positive class environment that supports learning. This position supervises students both in and out of the class and at school-sanctioned functions. It is expected that this position will use effective and creative instructional strategies while planning and executing appropriate lessons.

The Teacher works with the Academic Director, other teachers, parents, and other staff members to accomplish the grade-level goals of the class.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Mentoring/Disciplining each student with a nurturing heart.
  • Develop each student’s love for learning.
  • Manage the class by setting clear behavior expectations, establishing reasonable
  • routines, and promoting self-discipline based on biblical principles.
  • Apply biblical principles and comply with school policy in administering behavioral
  • discipline in the classroom.
  • Evaluate each student’s progress regularly and communicate this progress to the
  • student, parents, and administrators.
  • Ensure that the facility and equipment of the classroom are clean, safe, and well-
  • maintained.
  • Articulate the mission and vision of the school.
  • Actively involve parents and other members in the life of the school.
  • Exemplify and articulate a saving and growing relationship with Christ.
  • Effectively plan learning experiences that help each student achieve curriculum
  • objectives.
  • Proactively adjust lesson plans to meet each student’s needs.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records, including attendance, report cards,
  • grades, and parent communication.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled department meetings, general faculty meetings,
  • retreats, in-services, and professional development.
  • Works constructively with colleagues and administrators.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Teaching degree and certificate

  • Ability and desire to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Proficient use of computers, including e-mail and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • A passion for educating students in a diverse Christian environment
  • Commitment to lifelong learning

Bachelor’s degree required. A Master’s degree or other advanced certification or equivalent

experience is a plus.

Language Requirements:

Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehension of the English language.

Physical Requirements:

The candidate should be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds, sitting at a computer, conducting long telephone discussions, and driving.
