Upper School Science

Job Description

Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a teacher to join our Upper School Science Department. Possible sections, depending on the individual’s interest and area of expertise, could include Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or other science elective courses in the Upper School for the 2026-27 school year. A typical class load consists of teaching five sections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach multiple sections of Upper School Science 
  • Serve as an advisor teacher
  • Effectively integrate appropriate educational technology into the curriculum
  • Effectively manage a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Work closely and effectively with other science faculty to ensure the curriculum flows smoothly from course to course 
  • Integrate the language of leadership and character development into the classroom

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or another appropriate academic field, advanced degree preferred
  • Knowledgeable in maintaining a chemistry lab 
  • Comfort in teaching various Upper School science classes and interest in developing and supporting a suite of Science electives
  • Independent school teaching experience preferred
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and growth-mindset approach to 21st century learning
  • Commitment to holistic student development
  • Ability and/or willingness to coach or support another cocurricular activity is a plus.
