High School Science Teacher 2026-27

Job Description

Overview:
Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School seeks a dynamic and knowledgeable Science teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–27 academic year. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of learning, support students at a range of proficiency levels, and contribute meaningfully to the school’s mission to form intellect, character, and faith.

Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience or qualifications to teach Chemistry.

Responsibilities:

1. Instruction & Curriculum

  • Teach sections of Science (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and/or Aviation) using effective, research-based instructional practices.
  • Develop engaging lessons that align to diocesan and state curriculum standards, in collaboration with department leaders.
  • Assess, monitor, and support student progress through varied methods and meaningful feedback.
  • Integrate Catholic values and ethical thinking where appropriate, in alignment with the school’s mission.

2. Classroom Environment

  • Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom that encourages student participation and academic excellence.
  • Maintain high expectations for student work, conduct, and personal responsibility.

3. Collaboration & Professional Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science department and across disciplines.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and school-wide events as required.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, counselors, and administrators to support student success.

4. Student Support & Engagement

  • Provide additional assistance for students as needed, including office hours or tutoring.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents via Canvas LMS and email.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Current teaching license or willingness to pursue licensure.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience teaching at the high school level.
  • Ability to integrate technology effectively into classroom instruction.
  • Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to school culture.

Reports To:
This position reports to the school administration and works closely with department colleagues and academic support staff.
