Lower School Teacher

Job Description

Summary of the Position: Reporting to the Lower School Division Director, Lower School teachers are responsible, in collaboration with the teaching team, for creating a vibrant, joy-filled, student-centered environment that supports the development of each student.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to plan and implement curriculum and instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, and/or social studies
  • Effectively differentiate instruction to meet the various needs of students, including whole group, small group, and individualized instruction
  • Integrate educational technology (including iPads) appropriately into the curriculum
  • Create a sense of community and belonging among students where each individual student is celebrated for his or her identity and strengths 
  • Provide students with specific, actionable feedback and grades
  • Communicate with parents proactively, positively, and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students
  • Work with the Lower School academic support team to provide accommodations for students with specific learning needs
  • Actively engage in the school’s process of process growth and development
  • Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, advanced degree preferred
  • Substantial classroom teaching experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
