Summary of the Position: Reporting to the Lower School Division Director, Lower School teachers are responsible, in collaboration with the teaching team, for creating a vibrant, joy-filled, student-centered environment that supports the development of each student.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to plan and implement curriculum and instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, and/or social studies
- Effectively differentiate instruction to meet the various needs of students, including whole group, small group, and individualized instruction
- Integrate educational technology (including iPads) appropriately into the curriculum
- Create a sense of community and belonging among students where each individual student is celebrated for his or her identity and strengths
- Provide students with specific, actionable feedback and grades
- Communicate with parents proactively, positively, and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students
- Work with the Lower School academic support team to provide accommodations for students with specific learning needs
- Actively engage in the school’s process of process growth and development
- Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, advanced degree preferred
- Substantial classroom teaching experience
- Master’s degree preferred
