Gaston Day School is an independent, coeducational day school for 500 students in grades PS-12. This posting seeks a full-time upper school robotics/engineering teacher to instruct students in 10th through 12th grades, as well as a STEAM teacher to lead middle school students. A competitive candidate will have content-area expertise in robotics, engineering, and middle school STEAM curriculum, and will also oversee our school’s maker space. The ideal candidate must have enthusiasm for creative problem-solving, hands-on experiences, and the maker movement. In addition to supervising students in classes, teachers also serve as advisors and supervise students in co-curricular activities. Broad responsibilities:
Establish and actively maintain a class environment where excellence in learning is honored and respectful interaction is valued
Develop a curriculum that is rigorous, creative, and hands-on for robotics and engineering courses for students in grades 10 -12
Develop a curriculum for a robust STEAM program for middle school students
Maintain and oversee the Gaston Day School maker space and associated digital fabrication equipment, including laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC machines.
Participate as a collaborative team member within the science department, middle and upper school faculty, and the school community as a whole

Reporting:
The upper school robotics/engineering teacher and middle school STEAM teacher will report to the chair of the science department and the Head of Middle School.
Qualifications:
A degree in a STEM-related field or comparable rich experience is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Three years of teaching experience or its equivalent is preferred.
