Evangelical Christian School is seeking a Christ-centered, passionate Middle and High School Choir Teacher to join our Fine Arts faculty. This teacher will provide instruction for Middle School Choir (elective) and High School Choir programs, including both Flight (honors a cappella group) and regular choir, guiding students toward strong vocal technique, musical literacy, music theory, and confident performance skills.
The ideal candidate will cultivate a love for music, develop students’ artistic expression, and pursue excellence in choral performance while intentionally integrating a Christian worldview into classroom instruction and culture. This role also includes collaboration with the Fine Arts department in supporting theatrical productions, including up to three middle and high school musicals each year.
In addition to musical instruction, this teacher will invest in students’ spiritual formation through daily discipleship and mentorship.
Teach Middle School Choir (elective), High School Choir, and Flight (honors a cappella group) with an emphasis on vocal technique, music theory, and ensemble performance
Plan and lead two concerts annually (one winter and one spring), including preparation, setup, and strike
Select appropriate repertoire for both choral and a cappella groups and provide necessary materials (sheet music, vocal tracks, demos) in a timely manner
Maintain ECS’s standing with WTVEMA to support student participation in All-West and All-State events
Prepare and register ECS choral groups for opportunities such as Choral Performance Assessment, a cappella invitationals, studio recordings, National Anthem performances, and other appropriate venues
Develop students’ skills in sight-reading, music theory, and ear training
Prepare students for performances, concerts, and school events with a focus on excellence and collaboration
Differentiate instruction to meet a range of abilities and support growth in both foundational and advanced choral settings
Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to evaluate musical growth and guide instruction
Collaborate with Fine Arts colleagues to align curriculum and contribute to a cohesive and thriving arts program
Collaborate with the theater department to support middle and high school productions, including up to three musicals per year
Provide vocal direction, lead rehearsals, and prepare student performers for musicals
Contribute to the overall success of productions through teamwork, flexibility, and a shared commitment to excellence in the arts
Collaborate with the Performing Arts team for events such as Night of Worship, Grandparents’ Day, and other school-wide programs (as applicable)
Demonstrate a willingness to attend additional Performing Arts events and assist with program transitions as needed
Lead a small D Group (Discipleship Group) of approximately ten students that meets daily, supporting spiritual growth and character development
Build strong, supportive relationships with students, offering guidance, encouragement, and accountability
Model Christian character and integrity both inside and outside the classroom
Pray for and with students, helping them connect their musical gifts with purpose, discipline, and worship
Foster a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom and rehearsal environment
Encourage creativity, collaboration, and a growth mindset in musical development
Communicate clearly and effectively with parents and guardians
Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth
Maintain accurate and timely grading and reporting in PowerSchool
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
Experience teaching middle and/or high school choir preferred
Strong background in vocal performance, choral direction, and music literacy
Experience with musical theater or vocal direction for productions preferred
Experience with both choral and contemporary music preferred
A clear commitment to Christian education and alignment with ECS’s mission and Statement of Faith
Strong organizational skills, clear communication, and a heart for mentoring students through the arts
