Position Details
Charlotte Country Day School seeks a dynamic Upper School Biology teacher who brings intellectual curiosity, a commitment to engaging instruction, and a desire to contribute to a collegial and collaborative science department.
We are interested in experienced candidates to collaboratively design curriculum and create a student-centered, research-informed learning environment. Primary teaching responsibilities will include ninth-grade Biology. Experience teaching additional Life Science courses, including Anatomy and Physiology, is preferred.
Our Biology teachers are integral members of a collaborative science department, working closely with colleagues to design curriculum, assessments, and laboratory experiences that are the essential foundation for all other science courses in the department.
The ideal candidate will design and facilitate inquiry-based, laboratory-centered instruction, engage students in hands-on scientific investigation, and build strong relationships that support student growth.
Essential Responsibilities include:
· Teaching a course load of four sections, with primary responsibility for Biology I and opportunities to teach additional life science courses, such as Anatomy and Physiology.

Qualifications
· Education
· Teaching Experience
o Experience teaching Biology, preferably at the high school level.
o Experience with a range of course levels and learners is preferred.
o Experience teaching Anatomy and/or Physiology is a plus, but not required.
o Experience teaching in an independent school setting is strongly preferred; candidates should demonstrate a clear understanding of independent school pedagogy, culture, and expectations.
· Skills
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
o Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to department culture.
o Commitment to student-centered teaching and inclusive classroom practices.
o Ability to engage and connect with students and support their development.
o Strong organizational skills, including maintaining classroom and laboratory spaces.
o Proficiency in using instructional technology to enhance learning.
