Webb School of Knoxville Upper School Mathematics Teacher (Probability and Statistics/AP Statistics)
The Opportunity
Webb School of Knoxville seeks an experienced Upper School Mathematics Teacher with a strong background in probability and statistics, including AP Statistics, who is eager and prepared to teach across multiple levels of the curriculum. This role is ideal for an educator who views math not simply as procedures to master, but as a way of thinking that builds reasoning, interpretation, and decision-making skills students carry beyond the classroom.
At Webb, math classrooms are places where students learn to ask good questions, analyze uncertainty, make sense of data, and communicate their thinking clearly. We are looking for a teacher who enjoys helping students grow as confident problem-solvers while meeting them where they are.
What You Will Do
As a member of the Mathematics Department and the Upper School faculty, you will:
Design and teach engaging, rigorous courses in probability, statistics, and AP Statistics, with the ability to teach other Upper School math courses as needed
Create a classroom culture where curiosity, persistence, and intellectual risk-taking are expected and supported
Use varied assessments and feedback to promote reflection, growth, and mastery
Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum alignment and advance departmental goals
Integrate technology and innovative pedagogy to deepen understanding and engagement
Build strong relationships with students and families through clear communication and mentorship
Contribute actively to the life of the school as an advisor, colleague, and community member
Model Webb’s core values of academic excellence, integrity, critical thinking, and care for others
Who You Are
You likely have:
A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (advanced degrees preferred)
Demonstrated success teaching high school mathematics, with a strength in probability and statistics
Experience teaching or readiness to teach AP Statistics
The flexibility and content knowledge to teach additional Upper School math courses
A student-centered approach that balances rigor with support
A commitment to collaboration, mentorship, and ongoing professional growth
A clear alignment with Webb School of Knoxville’s mission and values
If you're energized by a school where math is taught as a way of thinking and students are met with high expectations and genuine care, we'd love to hear from you. Send your resume and cover letter to John Micheletto, Director of Faculty and Instructional Programs (john.micheletto@webbschool.org).
