Position: First Grade Teacher

Episcopal Day School is located in beautiful downtown Pensacola, Florida.  The school is an easy walk to numerous shops, stores, restaurants, and coffee houses, as well as being mere minutes from Pensacola Beach.  EDS serves 446 students in grades PK2-8 and is the leading independent school in Northwest Florida.  EDS accepts students of average and above average academic ability and offers a full range of athletic and artistic opportunities for students.

 

The position teaches 18-20 grade level and above students in the academic areas of English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies and enjoys 80 minutes of duty free planning time with the other first grade teacher.  A full time instructional assistant helps with all instruction at the direction of the teacher.  Weekly faculty meetings occur on Wednesdays, which are early release days for that purpose.

 

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field.  Experience teaching elementary age students in independent schools is preferred. A strong candidate will be engaging, will have mastered creative and diverse methods of teaching, learning, and assessment, will demonstrate a knowledge of current pedagogy and will be familiar with the use of technology in the instructional setting.
