Position Summary
Greenfield School seeks a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered professional to serve in a counseling role that supports students across multiple divisions while also leading the school's comprehensive college counseling program. Candidates with expertise in both counseling and college advising are encouraged to apply.
Working closely with administrators, faculty, families, and outside professionals, this full-time, 11-month position promotes the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students while helping prepare Upper School students for successful postsecondary transitions. The counselor provides responsive support to students, partners with teachers and parents, coordinates interventions, and contributes to a healthy, caring school culture.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide individual and small-group counseling and short-term responsive support for students.
Consult with teachers, administrators, and families regarding students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
Coordinate referrals to outside mental health, psychoeducational, and community resources when appropriate.
Facilitate student support, treatment-team, and planning meetings.
Provide crisis intervention and serve as a member of the school's Crisis Management Team.
Design, implement, or support social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives and parent education.
Assist the Admissions Office in evaluating applicants with documented learning or mental health needs.
Lead Greenfield's four-year college counseling program by assisting students in setting realistic goals, coordinating college planning resources, overseeing application timelines, and communicating with college admission representatives .
Teach or facilitate college readiness programming and collaborate with school leadership to advance Greenfield School's mission of educating the whole child.
Qualifications
Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field; certification or certification eligibility required.
Experience in school counseling, college counseling, clinical mental health, or a related educational setting preferred.
Current LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT licensure preferred but not required.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, families, faculty, and colleagues.
Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and student-centered practice.
