Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and collaborative science teacher to join our Middle School faculty. In this role, you will inspire students to explore the natural world through engaging, hands-on learning experiences while building the critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry skills that prepare them for future success.

Science at Triangle Day School is rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and real-world application. Key Responsibilities

Classroom Instruction & Student Learning

• Teach Middle School Science: Maintain a full-time teaching load consisting of two sections of 7th Grade Life Science and two sections of 8th Grade Physical Science, along with one elective course. Design meaningful learning experiences that emphasize scientific inquiry, laboratory investigation, and real-world problem solving, helping students develop both a deep understanding of scientific concepts and an enduring curiosity about the world around them.

• Plan & Deliver Instruction: Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that foster curiosity, scientific thinking, and a love of learning through a variety of instructional strategies.

• Assess Student Growth: Create and grade assessments, maintain an up-to-date digital gradebook, and use assessment data to support student growth and achievement.

Student Support & Community

• Advisory Program: Lead a daily advisory by facilitating provided advisory lessons and activities that support students' social-emotional growth and community building.

• Study Hall Supervision: Supervise a daily study hall, providing academic support and helping students develop strong organizational and study skills.

• Family Communication: Build positive partnerships with families through regular communication regarding student progress, classroom activities, and individual student needs.

Professional Collaboration

• Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with fellow faculty members across grade levels and disciplines to support student success and contribute to the life of the school.

• Contribute to School Community: Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and the broader school community while supporting school events and initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field required; master's degree or additional graduate coursework preferred.

• Teaching Experience: Three or more years of experience teaching science to students in grades 6-8 or comparable middle school experience.

• Instructional Skills: Experience developing engaging lesson plans, using a variety of instructional and assessment strategies, and differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

• Technology Skills: Comfort using educational technology, digital gradebooks, learning management systems, and Google Workspace for Education.

• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

• Student-Centered Mindset: Patience, flexibility, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with middle school students in a supportive, student-centered environment.

Additional Details

• Salary in accordance with certification and experience, but will likely begin between $50,000-60,000 annually.

• School contract hours run Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
