Lower School Teaching Fellow

Job Description

St. Timothy’s School, an Episcopal preparatory school in Raleigh, NC, with approximately 585 students in grades pre-K to 8, is accepting applications for a Lower School Teaching Fellow (pre-k to 4th grade) for the 2026-2027 academic year. The final subject-area assignments for these positions will be determined based on our needs in early 2026. We welcome applicants with flexible teaching backgrounds and a collaborative spirit. 

About the Teaching Fellowship Program

The Teaching Fellowship is designed for recent college graduates and early-career educators. Fellows are paired with an experienced Teaching Mentor and progress through the following stages:

  • Fall Trimester: Learn and shadow in the classroom.

  • Winter Trimester: Co-teach with the mentor teacher.

  • Spring Trimester: Lead a class independently.

The program also includes:

  • Career coaching

  • Internal and external teacher observations

  • Independent school networking opportunities

  • Full access to our professional development fund

This is a one-year, full-time position that includes salary and benefits. All past Teaching Fellows have received offers from schools or colleges of their choice following the program.

Candidates should possess not only an excellent work ethic and exemplary interpersonal skills, but also a passion for working with early adolescents, in particular, and a desire to collaborate with both educators and parents to support each student’s growth and success. Candidates should be flexible in their thinking, skilled communicators, comfortable navigating a community of diverse perspectives and opinions, and possess a good sense of humor.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Elementary Education, or similar by July 2026

  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Be able to work collegially with multiple constituencies.
