Position Summary: Provide administrative support to the Head of Upper School and teaching staff, monitor and support student behavior and attendance, and oversee student-life programming.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Assists Head of Upper School in the overall administration of the division. These include but are not limited to systemizing faculty duties, community time events, semester exams, Awards Day and other formal ceremonies, and weekly assembly itineraries.
2. Works in tandem with the Head of Upper School to update student handbook policies and expectations.
3. Ensures that Bayside’s Code of Conduct and Honor Code are upheld with fidelity in the Upper School and serve as a model for lower divisions.
4. Conducts student elections and training for the Honor and Discipline Councils in addition to overseeing all council hearings.
5. Serves as a resource for teachers and staff who express concerns for student attendance, student development and/or discipline.
6. Coordinates efforts with the Grade Deans and the school counselor to meet students’ needs and address behavioral, social, academic, and emotional concerns.
7. Consults with families via communication systems and conferences concerning student attendance and behavior.
8. Resolves student behavior concerns in a fair and timely manner and maintains records of disciplinary or referral actions taken. These include but are not limited to infractions, detentions, suspensions, and the exceedance of allowed absences.
9. Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus security.
10. Maintains active relationships with parents, families and students and is visibly present on campus and at school events.
11. Communicates weekly community time and athletic events with the student body through the student bulletin.
12. Cultivates a positive school culture by actively seeking and promoting student accomplishments and fostering ethical and kind behavior.
13. Develops and leads implementation of Advisory Curriculum alongside the counseling office.
14. Facilitates Student Drug Testing Program in concert with the school nurse.
Secondary Responsibilities Include:
1. Oversees student clubs and their efficacy while promoting student leadership opportunities.
2. Supervises and evaluates all student life events, including field trips, dances, student orientations, and class retreats.
3. Supports campus wide events across divisions and fulfills administrative duties at athletic events.
4. Oversees the articulation and infusion of core values in all facets of the school’s life.
5. Performs other duties determined by the Head of Upper School and Associate Head of School.
